Teacher Development Manager

About the role

This position supports the Component Lead, Teaching and Learning to manage a range of BEST strategic initiatives to improve the quality of teacher pedagogical practice and support DepEd’s K to 12 education reform program. Key stakeholders include the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Teacher Education Council (TEC), the Office of the Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) and relevant Bureaus within DepEd, including the Bureau of Human Resources and Organisational Development, the Bureau of Education Assessment and, Alternative Learning Systems. The position will work closely with the BEST Curriculum and Assessment Manager and support broader collaborative engagement with partners such as the Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ), the Assessment, Curriculum and Technology Research Centre (ACTRC), and the Philippines Business for Education (PBeD) to facilitate sustainable and effective teacher training approaches.

The Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Program is a partnership between the Governments of the Philippines and Australia and aims to contribute to improving the quality of teachers, curriculum and assessment, learning materials and education facilities and to build the capacity of the Department of Education to continuously enrich quality, effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.

Remuneration
This is a locally engaged position and a competitive salary package will be offered to the preferred candidate in line with local labour laws.

Learning Action Cell Lead

The Learning Action Cell Lead will direct improvements in the quality of teacher pedagogical practice through teacher led communities of practice. Teaching and Learning Project Officer

About the role

The position will focus on the work in The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) and The Teacher Education Council (TEC). The Project Officer is also expected to support activities in both pre-service and in-service teacher education and help create better synergy between the work of CHED and DepEd. This role will be managed and directed by the Component Lead for Teaching and Learning in collaboration with senior officers in DepEd and CHED.

The Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Program, funded by the Australian Government, is working with a range of partners within the Philippine education system to support the implementation of the K to 12 reform. The Department for Education (DepEd), through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), is reviewing the current provision for inservice teacher training and developing new strategies and innovations to ensure that teachers are providing the highest quality teaching and learning experiences to all children. The Teacher Education Council (TEC) is working to support the development of teachers in priority areas, and will soon be developing new induction programs for newly appointed teachers. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is reviewing the current provision of pre-service teacher education programs in various Teacher Education Institutions and developing a strategy to support the development of systems-wide reforms to ensure that all new teacher graduates are able to fully implement the new K to 12 curriculum
